Greetings Spartan Nation,
After last week’s loss (yep, # 6 of the season) to U-M, it’s easy to say about this week’s match-up, “Who Cares?” We’re with our Spartans through thick or thin, Win or Lose! Trouble is. . . It’s harder this week. Saturday’s game is being broadcast on ESPNN (ESPN News). Does WOW even have that channel? So if you’re with the Spartans as I am, you’ll have to check your cable provider listing to find the game. BTW, it’s a Noon kick-off.
Let’s see. . . Where do I start? Brian Lewerke is out for the rest of the year. The Defense can’t stop anybody. The Offensive Line is having trouble protecting the QB and opening running lanes. And there’s more. . .
Saturday’s game is a test between two teams with nearly identical statistics:
This one is a tough one to predict.
It’s Dad’s Day in Champaign. The team and their Dads get to walk to the stadium together. For Illinois, Jeff George Jr (JGJ) gets the start at QB. He’s got the pedigree (Dad was a stud QB at IU and an All-Pro in the NFL) and so-so stats- 20/49 for 251 yards and 2 TD’s in only two games, and one of those games was during mop-up duty when U-M clobbered Illinois 41-8.
By default, TOC gets the start for MSU. As stated over and over, TOC has done nothing to keep the Spartans from winning, but he hasn’t taken the offense on his shoulders and made good things happen. Remember John Elway when he played at Stanford? They were already a decent team, but Elway made them exciting. MSU is a decent team. I think the winner of this game is the team whose QB who is flashier, more poised, and gets the most support from his receivers.
Bold Prediction: Donnie Corley will have his best game as a Spartan with 11 catches and 1 interception on defense!
